SRINAGAR: More than one quintal of Cheese (paneer) was seized in Jammu on Monday, with samples sent for laboratory testing, officials said.
An official stated that the consignment was intercepted in the Bus Stand area, after which the Food Safety Department was informed for necessary examination and verification.
He added that the consignment had arrived from Gurdaspur in Punjab and was accompanied by proper billing and supporting documentation.
“We have collected samples, and action will be initiated once the report is received,” the official said.
Officials from the Food Safety Department collected samples from the seized stock to determine its quality and verify compliance with prescribed food safety standards.
They clarified that no conclusions regarding the quality or safety of the paneer can be drawn until laboratory analysis is completed.
Further action will depend on the outcome of the test reports. (KNT)
