SRINAGAR: CPI(M) leader and former MLA Kulgam Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Monday stated that People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) is solely meant to flag up voice for those issues which are yet to be resolved.

He said he will play his utmost role in addressing the friction occurred in the alliance. Talking to media persons in Srinagar, Tarigami said that PAGD is meant for addressing concerns emerged after August 5, 2019 when special status of Jammu and Kashmir was taken away by New Delhi. He said the decision taken by New Delhi left people of Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh into inconvenience since.

“Our rights were snatched on August 5, 2019. A day before on August 4, the regional political parties decided to form a united front – PAGD – to flag up voice jointly for our rights which were taken away. This form is an alliance to rake up voice for issues which are yet to be addressed,” Tarigami.

He said due to the decison of August 5, 2019 the erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir was divided into two UT’s, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. “Today people of Ladakh are on roads and demanding the snatched rights should be returned back, while as people of Kashmir have not hit the roads yet,” he said.

Tarigami who is a constituent of PAGD said every political party want the special status of Jammu and Kashmir under Article 370 and 35(A) should be returned back, and PAGD is meant for the same. He said being a part of the alliance I will try my best to address the gaps emerged in the alliance during past few days. (KNS)
