Pahalgam Attack Met with Most Precise Military Response, Says Amit Shah

SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said “Operation Sindoor” laid bare the deep nexus between terrorists and the Pakistan Army, stating that actions of the neighbouring country had confirmed that terrorism in India is Pakistan-sponsored.

Addressing the Border Security Force (BSF) Investiture Ceremony, Shah said, “When we launched an attack on terrorist sites in Pakistan, the Pakistan Army retaliated. Officers of the Pakistan Army attended the funerals of the terrorists.”

He added. “Pakistan proved that it sponsors terrorism by considering the attack on the terrorists as an attack on itself and dared to target our civilians and military institutions. India’s air defence system is remarkable, and Pakistan’s attacks could not harm us.”

According to Shah, what Pakistan had long denied has now been fully exposed. “Its actions post-Operation Sindoor confirm that terrorism in India is sponsored by Pakistan. The world witnessed senior Pakistani officers attend the funerals of the terrorists whose camps we destroyed,” he said.

Calling Operation Sindoor “the most precise and successful response in the history of counterterrorism operations on Indian soil,” Shah said global experts are praising India’s armed forces for their bravery, lethal capabilities, and restraint.

The Home Minister stated that since Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, India’s response to terror has changed decisively.

“When the Uri attack took place, we conducted a surgical strike. After Pulwama, we carried out air strikes. And after the Pahalgam terror attack, where Pakistan-sponsored terrorists brutally murdered 26 innocent civilians, we launched Operation Sindoor.”

“Within minutes, nine terrorist camps were destroyed, two of them major headquarters. This was not an act of aggression against Pakistan, but a response to terrorism,” Shah said.

Shah said that India initially avoided targeting Pakistan’s military installations and focused only on terrorist infrastructure. “Even when Pakistan retaliated by attempting to hit our civilians and military institutions, our forces responded by striking their airbases, proving our capabilities while avoiding civilian harm,” he said.

“The entire nation is proud of the Army and BSF. The BSF has shown time and again that as long as it stands guard, the Pakistani Army cannot move an inch forward,” he said.

Shah described Operation Sindoor as a “remarkable demonstration of Prime Minister Modi’s firm political will, precise intelligence, and the military’s prowess.” He added that the operation was also a testimony to India’s progress in indigenous defence production.

He paid tribute to BSF personnel Mohammad Imtiyaz Ahmad and Deepak Chingakham, who were martyred in the operation, stating their names would be inscribed in golden letters in the nation’s military history.

The Home Minister praised the BSF for securing India’s over 15,000 km of border, including some of the most difficult terrain. He noted that the force has implemented technological solutions in areas where fencing is not feasible and continues to enhance its surveillance systems.

“The BSF has become a global benchmark for border forces, operating with excellence in land, sea, and air domains,” he said, highlighting the numerous gallantry awards conferred upon BSF personnel.

Over the past five years, the BSF has seized approximately 1.1 lakh kilograms of narcotics and neutralised more than 78 Naxalites, Shah said, underscoring its growing role in internal security operations.

Shah recalled the contribution of K.F. Rustamji, the first Director General of the BSF, and praised the role played by the force during the 1971 war and in the creation of Bangladesh.

He also said that the BSF continues to perform exemplary roles in elections, pandemic response, sports events, disaster relief, and counter-terrorism.

Concluding his address, Shah said that under PM Modi’s leadership, the government, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and the entire nation are firmly behind the BSF. “The country trusts and salutes your service,” he said.
