According to the circular issued by SDM Pahalgam Amit Gupta (IAS), all hotels possessing their own parking facilities have been instructed to ensure that guests’ vehicles are parked strictly within their premises. The administration has made it clear that vehicles should not be allowed to occupy public roads or roadside spaces.

The order further states that hotels lacking adequate parking facilities, or those exceeding their parking capacity, must arrange valet parking in designated parking areas notified by the Municipal Committee Pahalgam and the Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA).

The circular also imposes a strict ban on roadside parking, particularly in the main market area of Pahalgam, where parked vehicles often create bottlenecks, reduce road width and trigger traffic congestion. The administration noted that such congestion not only causes inconvenience to the public but also hampers the overall tourist experience during the annual pilgrimage.

The directions have come into force with immediate effect, and stakeholders have been urged to ensure full compliance to facilitate hassle-free traffic management during the Amarnath Yatra season. (KNC)
