Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in a post on X, said: “Deeply disturbing news from Pahalgam of a cowardly attack on tourists that has resulted in tragic loss of life. Such violence is unacceptable and against the ethos of Kashmir, which welcomes visitors with love and warmth. I strongly condemn it. Thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”

Mehbooba Mufti also condemned the attack:“I strongly condemn the cowardly attack on tourists in Pahalgam, which tragically killed five and injured several, as being reported for now. Such violence is unacceptable and must be denounced. Historically, Kashmir has welcomed tourists warmly, making this rare incident deeply concerning. A thorough investigation is needed to bring the perpetrators to justice and examine potential security lapses. Ensuring visitor safety is paramount, and steps must be taken to prevent future attacks. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families.”

Altaf Bukhari, in a post on X, said: “The terror attack in Pahalgam has left us all deeply shocked and saddened. Targeting innocent tourists is an act of cowardice and among the worst forms of terrorism. I am confident our security agencies will swiftly nab the perpetrators and bring them to justice. My thoughts and prayers are with the injured for a full and speedy recovery, and with their families for strength during this difficult time.”

Sajad Lone posted: “I strongly condemn the dastardly and cowardly attack in Pahalgam. For decades, we have been known as great hosts with a rich history of hospitality. Some cowardly terrorists want to destroy all of that. The tourism industry has already suffered, and people involved in it had only just begun to rebuild. These attacks are a direct attempt to disempower us economically. Those behind this violence are the worst enemies of Kashmiris. They defile our history and are a curse on our present. They are enemies of our children and our youth. We must send a clear and united message: there is no tolerance for terror. Let us live our lives in peace and with economic dignity. These tourists are our revered guests.”

Meanwhile, senior BJP leader and Jammu & Kashmir party spokesperson Altaf Thakur also condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act of violence. He said the attack was not just an act of terror against innocent visitors but a deliberate attempt to cripple the economic backbone of the Valley.
