SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the Jagdish Sharma Commission has recommended reservation under Schedule Tribe to Gujjar-Bakerwal and Pahari.

“After the administrative exercise in this regard is completed, all three would be given reservation,” Home Minister Amit Shah said in Rajouri. He was addressing a public meeting that was mostly organised by Pahari speaking population.

Shah said some people are creating a wedge between Gujjar-Bakerwal and Paharis by stating that if Paharis come into ST, the Gujjar-Bakerwals would lose their share in ST.

“But I assure that Gujjar-Bakerwals wouldn’t even have one per cent decrease in their reservation share under ST,” Shah asserted to the thunderous applause of the audience comprising BJP cadres and the Pahari Speaking People. The Gujjar-Bakerwals and Paharis have been deprived of their rights by three families who ruled Jammu and Kashmir since 1947, he said. “Modi ji changed that with reading down of Article 370.”
