SRINAGAR: Two militants including Pakistani resident were killed in a gunfight with the counter insurgent forces in Chingam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.
An army spokesman said a Pakistani militant among two were killed in the gunfight that broke out late last night in Chingam area.
“Op Chingam, Kulgam.Cordon included two masjids. SF exercised strict restraint. Militants fired UBGL & AK during night. Civilians evacuated at first light. Two militants including one Pakistani eliminated. One M4 Rifle & one Pistol recovered.Op over,” said the army on Twitter.

Earlier, according to the reports, a joint team of Police, Army and CRPF launched a joint cordon-and-search-operation in Chingam amid inputs about the presence of the militants.
As the joint team approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.
