The residents of Pampore area Tuesday staged protests against the CAPD department for failing to provide adequate ration to them and demanded the rollback of NFSA.

Protesters blocked Srinagar-Jammu highway at Pampore to protest against the recently-implemented National Food Security Act (NFSA).

Reports said that the protesters were raising anti-NFSA slogans during the demonstration at Drangbal in Pampore area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The residents said that the ration quota provided by the government is not sufficient. “The government should keep in mind that we are rice eaters and should take necessary steps in this regard, which will accommodate the aspirations of people in the Valley,” they said.

The residents said that the authorities are forcing them to take to streets by using such tactics. “The government should immediately redress our genuine demands,” they said.

The protesters later dispersed peacefully. (KNS)
