Srinagar: Trader’s Federation Pampore Wednesday called for shutdown in the town on Thursday against what they called police and force’s highhandedness.

President of the Pampore Traders Federation alleged that forces damaged public property at Namblabal Pampore and roughed up many people. He further alleged that forces barged into residential houses and beat inmates.

Earlier fifteen students, many of them girls, were injured during clashes with forces in the area.

Witnesses said that the students of Government Boys Higher Secondary School Pampore and Government Girls Higher Secondary School Pampore staged a protest on Srinagar-Jammu highway at Namlabal Pampore against the killing of a youth in Shopian last evening.

Witnesses said that forces resorted to tear smoke shelling and pellet firing to disperse the protesters, triggering massive clashes.

Several girl students were allegedly thrashed by the forces, they said.

Officials at Sub-district hospital Pampore said that fifteen students were brought to the facility.
