SRINAGAR: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference on Thursday held a protest in Srinagar against the government order of mandatory e-tendering in villages for executing of works.
The protestors raised slogans and demanded cancellation of government order no. 247-FD, according to which no work will be executed without the accord of mandatory e-tendering in villages.
“Govt is giving preferences to the bureaucrats over us by providing them more opportunities through these kinds of orders,” said Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, a panchayat representative from Kulgam, adding that, “ if our demands are not addressed we will all resign.”
“Also, we demand that the government should provide security to those Sarpanches, who do not feel safe,” he added.
“Govt has made many false promises in the name of back to village programme. Now people held us accountable for it,” said protesting panchayat representatives.
