A Panchayat Ghar in North Kashmir’s Tarzoo area of Sopore completely gutted in mysterious circumstances during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sopore, Dr Syed Hanief Balkhi told a local news agency, CNS that the cause of fire is still unknown and the investigation has been taken up. “All the records pertaining to Panchyats were gutted down completely,” he said.

Police has registered a case vide FIR number 66/2013 under section 436 and the investigation has been taken up.

Meanwhile Sarpanch Tarzoo Fayaz Ahmed alleged that the Panchayat Ghar was set on fire by Ward 2 Panch Mohammad Akbar Malla. “In an embezzlement of funds case people have complained to DC Baramulla against the said Panch and we had recorded all his misdeeds in the Registry. During the course of fire, we succeeded in saving all the records, however we were surprised to find that registry missing from the cupboard that was related to Mohammad Akbar Malla,” he claimed adding that there is not an iota of doubt in it that Panchayat Ghar was set on fire by the said Panch.
