SRINAGAR: The Government has constituted a committee to examine the regularisation of casual, seasonal labourers and other categories of daily wage workers in Jammu and Kashmir, the Assembly was told, with a comprehensive policy still under examination and no decision taken so far.
The disclosure came in reply to an unstarred question tabled by Yudhvir Sethi. The government cited a government order dated March 19, 2025, under which the panel has been formed to study issues surrounding the regularisation of such workers in the Union territory.
According to the reply, the committee is conducting an in-depth examination of the humanitarian, legal and financial dimensions of regularising casual and seasonal labourers and other similarly placed workers. The government said the recommendations of the panel will be assessed in line with existing rules, regulations, the legal framework and fiscal constraints before any decision is taken.
