As rains continue to lash valley and Jhelum water levels rising, panic gripped South Kashmir’s Islamabad district late Wednesday night. The I&FC has declared flood in the area.

Reports reaching here said that most of the town parts including Bakhshi Abad, Dangerpora, Lal Chowk Khanbal have been inundated. Locals said that business doing people are busy in vacating their godowns and shops.

Reports coming from adjoining Bijbehara town said that people in main town are vacating to safer places while domestic animals are being ferried in vehicles.

“It was surprising to see long queues adding fuel to their vehicles at petrol pumps in the area,” a caller from the area said.
