The presence of eve-teasers in Nawab Bazar and Kaka-Sarai areas of Srinagar city has rattled parents of tuition going girl students. The eve-teasers are source of nuisance for these young girl students.
A delegation of parents from Nawab Bazar and Kaka-Sarai told CNS that the girl students on way to their coaching centres are frequently being harassed and annoyed by eve-teasers.
“Eve-teasers are always present on Sheeren Bagh Bund locally known as ‘Sunar Kul’ near Government Dental College Srinagar. My daughter, a class 9th student, who takes tuition at Kaka-Saria frequently, complain that these eve-teasers pass lewd comments while she passes through the bund. Yesterday, her uncle accompanied her and when he objected to the filthy remarks of these eve-teasers, they tried to assault him,” one of the aggrieved father told CNS.
They said that due to absence of flying squad or patrolling police team, the eve-teasers enjoy a field day. “These eve-teasers in booze fail to differentiate between a mother, sister and daughter,” the delegation said seeking stern punishment for these eve-teasers.
Superintendent of Police, North, Tahir Saleem said that he will personally visit the area to ensure the safety of these girl students. “I will make it sure that no eve-teaser or drug addict make ‘Sunar Kul’ a permanent station for eve-teasing,” he said.
Station House Officer, Safakadal Police Station told CNS that he will take stern action against these eve-teasers. “I will not only place a flying-squad vehicle there but a chowki officer will also be deputed there. I will make it sure that no girl student gets harassed by these eve-teasers,” he said. (CNS)
