To protest against the ‘unjustifiable’ fee hike twice a year by a private school in Apple Town Sopore here in North Kashmir, the parents Saturday sought intervention of Director School Education Dr Shah Faesal and appealed him to take action against the school management under law.

Scores of parents whose kids are studying in Netherfield School Sopore alleged that School Management violated all the norms and resorted to arbitrary hike in fee twice during a single academic session.

“Education has become an extremely expensive affair for we people. We are trying to find ways to wriggle out of the tight situation. This is the first school in the town that has resorted a big hike in fee twice a year. The Principal didn’t listen to us and instead is threatening us that our kids will be shown door if they protest,” said a group of parents to CNS.

“The school management pay meagre salaries to the teachers but fleece parents to fill up their coffers. Due to lack of accountability and authority, Netherfield School management has been behaving like autocrats, caring a fig for the poor parents,” they said.

“Our only hope is Director Education Kashmir. We humbly request him to look into the matter and take action against the school management for violating the norms,” they said.

Director School Education Dr Shah Faesal advised aggrieved parents to visit the office of Justice Hakim Imtiyaz who is the chairman of ‘Fee Fixation Committee’ located at Hyderpora Srinagar.
