Fruit Mandi traders on Thursday staged a protest demonstration against attempts to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.
Hundreds of the traders from various associations assembled at the premises of Fruit Mandi in Parimpora shouting slogans and holding placards that read “Dismiss petition Challenge”, “save article 35 A”, against attempts to abrogate Article 35A.
Article 35A of the Indian Constitution is an article that empowers the Jammu and Kashmir state’s legislature to define “permanent residents” of the state and provide special rights and privileges to those permanent residents.
