A complete shutdown is being observed in Handwara area of Kupwara district and Sopore area of Baramulla district in northern part of Kashmir on Tuesday against the killings of two Hizb militants in a gunfight yesterday.

Pervez Ahmad Wani of Galoora Handwara and Nayeem Ahmad Najar of Brath Kalan Sopore were killed in a gunfight with forces in Shangar gund area of Sopore yesterday.

Both the militants were laid to rest yesterday at the ancestral graveyards at their native villages amid pro-freedom slogans.

All the shops and business establishments are closed in Handwara town and parts of Sopore while thin movement of public transport was visible.

Cellular and Internet services barred yesterday were restored in Baramulla district late last night.

 

Meanwhile, hundreds of people were seen heading towards the villages to offer fateha (prayer) to the slain militants and express solidarity with their families.
