Advisor to Governor, Parvez Dewan Friday convened a high level meeting here to review the status and progress of road projects executed by the Border Roads Organization (BRO) in the state.

The Advisor had detailed deliberations on various roads being constructed and upgraded under SAMPARK, BEACON, VIJAYAK and HIMANK by BRO in hilly and far flung areas of the State.

Reviewing progress under SAMPARK, the meeting emphasized the need for evolving an effective mechanism for simultaneous filling up of trenches during laying of OFC along the road side. It was also decided that the muck deposition would be done only in the already identified restricted sites.

Dewan, while reviewing the status of forest clearance cases, asked the concerned officers for strong coordination especially at ground level for expeditious execution of prestigious road projects. He said that unnecessary delay in forest clearance cases should be taken seriously as this affects and impedes the very purpose of raising these vital projects for public convenience.

“Obstructionists creating hurdles in smooth implementation of developmental programmes would be taken to task so that government’s purpose of reaching out to the people with better amenities is met,” the Advisor maintained.

Other  issues discussed in the meeting included allotment of quarries and handing over of  roads to BRO under SAMPARK and BEACON projects, obtaining NoC from related departments and private stakeholders, site plans, revenue matters etc.

Meanwhile, the Advisor also held a video-conferencing with concerned officers of Kashmir division.

Among others, Principal Secretary Forest, Principal Secretary Home, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Commissioner Secretary PWD, Commissioner Secretary Industries & Commerce, Secretary Revenue, Director General BRDB beside senior officers of the allied departments attended the meeting.
