SRINAGAR:

The Fisheries Department today said that patrolling has been intensified around Sindh Nallah to check pouching of fish.

“The Fisheries Department staff posted around the Sindh Nallah is performing their duty 24×7 to ensure effective monitoring against killing of fish,” a handout issued by the Assistant Director Fisheries Ganderbal said while responding to a news item appearing in a section of the press regarding alleged use of bleaching power and electric current to kill fish in Nallah Sindh.

According to the statement, no case of use of bleaching powder or electric current to kill fish has been reported in Nallah Sindh during recent months.

“For effective monitoring night headquarters have been established are also maintained by the staff at Wayl, Preng, Naranagh, Mammar and Kullan. The patrolling of the area has been further intensified to curb pouching which are more during the lean season” the handout stated further,” it said.
