SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday informed the Legislative Assembly that two industrial estates are being established in the Pattan constituency of Baramulla district, with land already transferred to the Industries and Commerce Department.
Responding to a question raised by Pirzada Farooq Ahmad Shah on behalf of legislator Javaid Riyaz Bedar, the Deputy Chief Minister said two land parcels measuring a total of 240 kanal were transferred during 2024–25 for the projects. Of this, 150 kanal has been allocated for an industrial estate at Wussan Khoie and 90 kanal for another at Pattan.
He said 42 applications seeking land allotment in the two estates had been received through the Jammu and Kashmir Single Window Portal as of 18 January 2026. The applications have been examined by the Divisional Level Appraisal Committee and will be placed before the High Level Land Allotment Committee for consideration and allotment on a merit-cum-preference basis.
Choudhary added that the Government is taking steps to ensure effective operationalisation of the industrial estates.
