Press Council of India has shot a letter to the state government about the safety and protection of the journalists working in the Kashmir.

PCI has sent the letter on January 18 to the state government asking it to provide security and protection to the working journalists and also resolve their issues.

“The government should take steps for the safety and protection of the journalists working in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The security forces should appoint nodal officers to train its personnel about dealing with the journalists while they are working,” the PCI is reported to have told the state Government.

The council has asked the government to address the demands of journalists that they have been raising for years.

KNS has learnt that the government is yet to write back to PCI even as the letter has been received a month ago.

“The Government is soon holding a meeting of top officials to discuss the letter and then submit its reply to the PCI,” officials told KNS.
