Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Monday lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) against the ‘brazen misuse’ of official machinery and resources by the ruling National Conference.

According to a statement, a letter to that effect was sent to the ECI. The party Chief Spokesperson, Naeem Akhtar said, it has been brought to the notice of ECI, as to how police vehicles and personnel were used to ferry Wazwan for the participants of NC’s provisional meet at its headquarters. The letter has also pointed out that apart from chief minister, Omar Abdullah, most ministers, Member parliaments and legislators have participated in the lunch served through police.

Referring to the ‘insensitivity and callous’ display of NC’s attitude, at a time when entire Kashmir was mourning the killing of a youth in Naidkahi village of Sumbal area by police and was upset with the devastation caused by the untimely snow fury in most parts of the state, Akhtar said this is not the first time the government has displayed such a ‘shameless’ behavior. He said, “Unfortunate part of the whole story is that even the chief minister didn’t express a customary regret over the police brutality. Not even a tweet from him.”
