Coalition partner in state government, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Friday expressed grief over the demise of former Ameer Jama’at- e- Islami (JeI) Jammu Kashmir Syed Nazir Ahmad Kashani. Kashani breathed his last on Thursday morning after prolonged illness. He was 75.

A party statement said, “PDP president Mehbooba Mufti recalled the tire less services of late Kashani and described him as a great scholar and renowned journalist who rendered his life for the betterment of the society.” Kashani edited JeI’s official newspaper, Azan for long time.

Expressing sympathies with the bereaved family, Mehbooba Mufti prayed for everlasting peace to the departed soul.

The statement added that PDP senior leaders MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig, MP Tariq Hameed Karra, party general secretaries Nizamudin Bhat, Rafi Ahmad Mir, Chief Spokesperson Dr Mehboob Beg, Political Adviser to President Peerzada Mansoor Hussain, Chief Coordinators Mufti Sajad Hussain and Raja Aijaz Ali including all legislators and party leaders have also expressed their condolences on the demise of former JeI Chief.
