SRINAGAR: In a move that has raised eyebrows and sparked discussions within political circles, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has opted to go solo in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, as it has decided to field candidates independently across all three parliamentary seats of the Kashmir valley.

While political alliances are forming ahead of the elections, PDP’s decision to chart its own course has left the party seemingly isolated on the electoral battleground.

Amidst the evolving political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference (NC) has declared its intent to contest the elections in alliance with the Congress party and remaining allied with the India alliance.

However, the PDP’s decision to eschew alliances and contest the elections alone has led to its perceived isolation within the political arena. “By choosing to navigate the electoral terrain independently, the PDP risks facing formidable challenges and limited support, especially in the backdrop of established alliances between otherwise rival parties,” a senior NC leader wishing not to be named said.

While NC and Congress appear to be consolidating their electoral strategies, PDP’s independent stance may prove to be a test of its electoral strength and organizational resilience.

“Amid the ongoing election fervor and political maneuvering continues, PDP’s decision to forge its path independently has garnered attention and speculation. The party’s ability to navigate the electoral landscape without the support of established alliances remains to be seen, marking a crucial juncture in its political trajectory,” says a senior political leader.(KNO)
