SRINAGAR: Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday criticised the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for what she described as its silence over recent US-Israeli strikes on Iran, accusing the grouping of failing the Muslim world.
In a post on X, the PDP President and former chief minister said it was troubling that the OIC had not spoken out against what she termed aggression against Iran’s sovereignty. She also expressed concern over the organisation’s response to the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and alleged that it had instead shifted blame onto Tehran.
Mufti said the OIC’s stance amounted to a serious betrayal of the interests and collective conscience of the Muslim community.
Ayatollah Khamenei was killed in a joint US-Israeli air strikes carried out early Saturday.
