SRINAGAR: Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the safe evacuation of students from Jammu and Kashmir who are currently stranded in Iran.
In a post on X, the former chief minister said that the rapidly deteriorating situation in Iran has left thousands of students from the Union Territory studying there in distress.
Mufti urged the Prime Minister to personally intervene to facilitate their safe return and called on the Ministry of External Affairs and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to initiate evacuation efforts at the earliest.
