Peoples Democratic Party senior leader and MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig late Friday night said that PDP has set no new conditions before the BJP over continuing the alliance.
He said that the two parties should remove the misunderstandings between them and resume consultations on government formation.
“I cannot say with certainty whether the government will be formed or not. But as far as I know, Mehbooba Mufti has not set any new conditions before BJP to form the government again. She has asked the BJP to ensure the Agenda of Alliance is implemented if they formed the government,” Baig told KNS.
“I think there is misunderstanding between the two parties while having consultations on government formation. The two parties should take some time and resume the deliberations,” Baig said.
Baig’s statement comes after the BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav said that BJP will not form the government under “new conditions” set by the PDP. And the chances of government formation seem very remote.
The PDP leader said that the two parties should not start giving statements against each other as that will widen the gaps between the two.
“And giving statements against each other will give a bad impression in public. If PDP and BJP want to continue the alliance, then they should hold clear discussions, but not pin point one another,” he said.
He said that if the discussion does not reach any conclusion then both PDP and BJP must clear it before the people.
“It is the obligation of both the parties not to keep people in suspense over government formation,” the PDP leader said.
Over the announcement of vacations of land by army at four places, Baig said that despite Governor Rule in the state, the Union government is abiding by the Common Minimum Programme set between PDP and BJP last year before entering into a coalition.
“The credit for it goes to both PDP and BJP as they had mentioned it in Agenda of Alliance,” he said.
