Ruling coalition partner, PDP Monday welcomed the J&K High Court ruling about Article 370.
PDP spokesperson Dr Mehboob Beg said, “PDP welcomes the Judgment and it underlines our constant stand on the subject.” “PDP has always said that Article 370 is indispensable and forms the very basis of the relation that the state shares with the rest of India,” said Dr Beg.
The former lawmaker said, “Article 370 could not be repealed, abrogated or amended. “We are glad that the same has been upheld by the Highest Court of the State.”
Dr Beg further added, “it was vital to understand that J&K negotiated its position with the rest of India and it was not right to compare it with the other states of India.” “J&K ‘acceded’ to India and had not ‘merged’ with it.”
Beg also said, “his party condemned the incident in Udhampur in which a Kashmir-bound truck was set on fire by some miscreants.”
Dr Beg appealed to the people to maintain peace and tranquillity and not fall prey to those trying to instigate the masses. “The people of the state must stand united in accordance with the spirit expressed by the State Legislature by passing a unanimous resolution in this behalf.”
