SRINAGAR: The PDP Women’s Wing on Thursday staged a protest in Budgam, urging Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to acknowledge what they described as his recent misconduct and to offer a public apology. The demonstration took place in the town’s main market, where dozens of women activists gathered, holding placards and raising slogans to demand accountability.

Party representatives said the protest was intended to convey a strong message that public representatives must be answerable for their remarks and behaviour. According to the protesters, Nitish Kumar’s recent actions had caused widespread unease, leading PDP women activists in Budgam to organise the demonstration as an expression of dissent.

The protesters maintained that their objective was not to create confrontation, but to highlight the importance of transparency and ethical standards in public life. They appealed to national leaders to set an example by adhering to values expected of those in elected office.

The protest ended with PDP Women’s Wing leaders reiterating their demand for a public apology from the Bihar Chief Minister, stating that such a step would help address public concerns and rebuild confidence.

The demand follows a complaint linked to a viral video in which Nitish Kumar (Bihar CM) is allegedly seen pulling a Muslim woman’s hijab during an official event to distribute appointment letters to newly appointed AYUSH doctors. The footage has drawn sharp criticism from political figures, who have termed the act inappropriate and humiliating.
