Srinagar

Government forces conducted a nightlong cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in Naira village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Several houses including that of youth Peoples Democratic Party leader Waheed Para were searched during the operation.

Sources said that Army and police acting on a tip-off about the presence of the militants in the area laid cordon and search operations.

“Despite knowing the fact that the house belongs to youth leader, army and police barged into his house and held room to room search and found nothing at the end,” locals said.

Para had resigned as secretary of the state sports council soon after party chief Mehbooba Mufti stepped down from the post of chief minister.
