Singh said that after dedicating 14 years to the PDP, he was not taken into confidence regarding decisions for the Tral constituency, leading to his departure. He expressed dissatisfaction with the PDP’s neglect of minority communities and its internal focus on family interests.

In a separate development, Choudhary Haroon Khatana, a prominent tribal leader from Kokernag in Anantnag district, has resigned from the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP). He is expected to join the PDP after meeting with his workers to decide on his political future. Khatana, who previously held the position of general secretary in the DPAP, left the party after the recent delimitation exercise reserved the Kokernag assembly segment for Scheduled Tribes. (KNO)
