Veteran journalist Zafar Meraj who is contesting elections from Habba Kadal constituency on PDP’s ticket has only 15,000 rupees cash in hand and has bank deposits of 44,038 rupees. Meraj’s total movable assets amounting to 359038 rupees include a Maruti Alto car worth 3,00,000 rupees.
According to the nomination papers filed by Meraj has a total worth of 1,03,59,038 rupees. While he doesn’t own any agricultural land, Meraj has custodian allotted land in the name of his mother at Rawalpora worth rupees one crore.
In his papers, Meraj has shown a liability of a car loan amounting to 57,524 rupees. He has also shown pending government dues of rupees 1,93,000.
Meraj’s wife, a retired professor, has movable assets slightly more than him at 3,63,253 rupees, which apart from jewellery worth 1,67,000 includes bank balance and fixed deposits worth 1,95,763 rupees.
