PDP’s Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari Is No More

PDP Vice President, former minister and a cleric Molvi Iftikhar Ansari  breathed his last Tuesday morning after a protracted illness, family sources said. Thousands of his followers have started converging at Qamarwari to mourn his death.

Ansari a veteran religious  leader who has been in Congress for a long time and later NC and finally in the PDP has served the government in many capacities. He has been representing Pattan in the state legislative assembly. For the last three years he was fighting a life threatening liver disorder. He had treated the disease in US for nearly a year.

A well read cleric and a business tycoon, Anasari was one of the few politicians who did not migrate from Kashmir at the peak of militancy. This was despite the fact that he escaped at least three assassination bids on his life in which he had providential escape.

Mortal remains of the politician are being flown from Delhi, where he passed away in a hospital. He is being laid to rest in Zadibal.
