SRINAGAR: The 75th Republic Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir passed off peacefully as Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha Friday hoisted the national flag at the M A Stadium in Jammu.

Before the main event, he paid homage to martyrs at the Balidan Stambh. The parade showcased well-presented contingents from CAPFs, local police, home guards, and school children. Lt Governor Sinha extended greetings on the occasion, said an official.

Sinha also spoke of a transformative shift in various sectors, particularly tourism, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

He asserted that the era of disruptions and unrest in Kashmir had ceased, giving way to a focus on development benefiting the common man.

In Srinagar, the Republic Day function at Bakshi Stadium featured Advisor RR Bhatnagar unfurling the national flag and overseeing the parade. The function, as per eyewitnesses, recorded a huge gathering of people.

“Foolproof security measures were in place across Jammu and Srinagar, ensuring smooth proceedings. Public participation was encouraged, with no restrictions on movement or mobile usage in the Valley. The parade in Srinagar was complemented by cultural programs,” the official added.

District headquarters throughout JK hosted Republic Day functions without any untoward incidents.
