A boy aged between 14 and 15 was hit by pellets in his abdomen Wednesday evening near his home in Old City.
The boy identified as Riyaz Ahmad, s/o Ab Rashid is bleeding through his stomach and doctors are mulling an emergency operation this night.
Speaking to Kashmir Life, Medical Superintendent SMHS, Dr Nazir Choudhary said, “the boy who is 20+ years of age is bleeding from his stomach. We are investigating him and shall be operating upon him in a few minutes to know where has it hit.” Dr Choudhary, however, added, “he is stable.”
When contacted his family said, “Riyaz was on his way home from Jamallata to Mir Jan Pora when police fired tear gas shells and something else.”
“We had gone to buy milk but when police fired something my brother fell on road unconscious,” his sister, who says she accompanied him, said. “It was around 5:15 PM, we were standing near a fruit vendor and we rushed him to SMHS.”
When Kashmir Life tried to get more details about the current status of the pellet victim, the family dropped the call saying, “this time blood is being administered to him and we are not in a position to speak more.”
Efforts to get the police version did not succeed immediately.
