Expressing his deep sorrow, grief and surprise over the killing of another person in Sopore, Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday said that the persons or the agencies involved in these types of incidents are not only the enemies of the humanity but they are also working against the freedom struggle of the Kashmiri nation and this act is purely a terrorist act.

In a statement he said, “Picture about the killers is unclear yet but the recent statement of the Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar that ‘target killings and terrorism is the solution of the militancy in Kashmir’ gives birth to many questions and doubts and in this perspective we can’t rule-out the another angle of these actions that it may be the deliberate attempt to put the terrorist tag on the freedom struggle of Kashmiris.”

“The telecommunication is working as a life line in the modern era and the life looks impossible without this system. It is no crime to work in this sector and it can’t be the base to kill anybody. The target killing of the employees and people related to the telecom companies in Sopore is beyond the intellect and we fail to understand that who people and what objectives are behind these attacks?” he asked.

While commenting over the distancing of the militant organizations from these attacks, Geelani said, “Although everything is unclear so far, the Mujahideen organizations should also investigate these incidents at their own level and find out the real culprits and objectives hidden behind these attacks. Whatever the circumstances or hands are working behind these incidents, India will anyway use it as their tool and she will try in every possible way to defame our freedom struggle.”

The Hurriyat (G) chairman said they will also try to collect the details and information about these unfortunate incidents from the common people and the eye witnesses. “We will not hesitate in raising our voice against those people or agencies who are behind these inhuman incidents and it is also our religious responsibility,” he said.

Meanhwile, strongly condemning the arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activist and member Hafiz Waseem Ahmad Bhat Tarzoo Sopore by the army and the SOG, Hurriyat Conference (G) Wednesday expressed its deep concern and anguish about his safety.

Hurriyat (G) spokesman alleged, “Waseem Sahab is an active member of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat and a Hafiz-i-Quran and due to his religious background, he is always being harassed and arrested by the army and SOG.”

“Hurriyat took strong notice of the arrest of this talented youth and appealed the human rights organizations to use their influence to ensure his safety,” he said.

While demanding immediate release of Waseem, he said, “He (Waseem) is not involved in any such activity which could justify his arrest. It is just a vengeance.”
