National Conference candidate for Ganderbal Constituency Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar Tuesday admitted that people of Ganderbal who elected Chief Minister Omar Abdullah from the constituency in 2008 assembly elections had no access to him and he was  not available for the people because of his busy schedule. He however, said that Omar Abdullah did a lot for Ganderbal but the party failed to project his achievements in Ganderbal in right perspective.

“As marketing is important for any product, so important is to highlight the achievements and contributions of political leader. Omar Abdullah did a lot for the people of Ganderbal but his contributions did not get much hype as a result an impression went that he ignored the constituency,” Sheikh Ishfaq Jabbar told CNS adding that National Conference is not a party but a movement in Ganderbal.

Sheikh revealed that people of Ganderbal always yearned that any local candidate should represent them and this time around, “i hope that being the local candidate I will make it to the legislative assembly,” he said.

He added that all the disgruntled National Conference workers are party supporters by conviction and he will try his level best to win the confidence of the grass root workers in coming days. “I don’t think the there will too much division of votes. Yet, if there will be division, it is not going to affect me. Ganderbal has always remained a strong hold of NC and this time also people will repose trust in this party,” he said.
