People Thursday staged protest demonstration at Shopian against the alleged killing of a woman in the area by her In-laws.

According to KNS, people at Bungam area of Shopian staged protest demonstrations against the killing of 23 year old woman Parveena Akhtar alias Rabia, who according to her father was killed by her in-laws. The reports further informed that the family of the woman alleged that the autopsy report has been fabricated and that the matter should be thoroughly investigated by the police.  “It is a cool blooded murder and the body of my daughter has injuries on neck and other body parts,” said Mohammad Yusuf father of Parveena. He further added that the husband of her daughter is working in the department of health and that he has diluted the post mortem report.

Reports received by KNS mention that Parveena died due to the consumption of poisonous substance and that she has committed suicide.

Her family alleges that she (Parveena) was continuously tortured by the in-laws and that her husband namely Nisar Ahmad Malik used to beat her to pulp.

KNS correspondent informed that the people on Thursday staged protest demonstrations and kept the body of the woman on road for more than four hours. Protesters were demanding Police actions against the persons involved.

The station House Officer (SHO) when contacted by KNS, said that Police has taken Cognizance of the matter and that it has initiated the process of investigation. SHO Irshad Ahmad Reshi further stated that the case has been registered under FIR No. 150/2013 under section 306 of Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and that the Husband of the deceased has been taken into custody for questioning.
