Reacting to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s allegations, Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference (PC) chairman Sajjad Gani Lone Sunday said alleged that Omar’s family has no religion and faith and ‘those who are criticizing BJP today were in their lap till yesterday.

Addressing a gathering on the last day of campaigning at Handwara, he alleged, “Most members of Abdullah family have married in non-Muslim families and by that logic they are neither Muslims and nor have any faith.”

In a scathing attack against Omar, he asked, “When he (Omar) was minister in Vajpayee government was BJP a secular and good party then and it has turned bad now? Omar shouldn’t have spoken against BJP and RSS as till yesterday he was sitting in their lap for power. It was National Conference who with the help of Congress always damaged the special status of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Giving background of his recent meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, “Abdullah family and Mufti family wants that apart from them nobody should meet the Prime Minister. When I met the PM they have turned rabid. I met Modi and discussed about the development of Kupwara district with him.”

He said that he can even give his life for the interests of Kashmiri nation and he isn’t like Omar “who can sell his faith and religion for power.”

Taunting at Chief Minister, he said that Omar Abdullah couldn’t decided for six months where form he should contest polls as he fears defeat.

Lone appealed to the voters of district Kupwara which goes to polls on December 2 to press of a button at the polling booth can change ‘our destiny.’ “We will be for the next six years what we choose to be on the December 2. All the political parties have come and made their customary speeches filled with rhetoric and lies. Now it is for the people to take a decision and make the distinction between falsehood and vision,” he said.

“We have laid out our vision for this district. We want it to be developed as a tourist destination, we want excellent health care facilities, we want academic institution like a University, we want a four lane road from Srinagar to Kupwara for easy access of tourists and we want special recruitment from central and state institutions for this extremely poor border district. It weighs heavily on our minds that thousands of youths equipped with top academic qualifications have no hope for employment,” he added.

Lone said their vision of establishing Kupwara district a tourist destination and creating infrastructure will go a long way in creating a sustainable local economy. “This is our party’s vision for this district. What is the vision of the National Conference and the Peoples Democratic Party. Getting votes and then making these hapless people wait for ours outside the main gates of their palatial bungalows,” the PC chief said.

“The politics of the NC and the PDP is indistinguishable. Let them explain where the difference lies between the NC and the PDP,” he added.
