SRINAGAR: Peoples Conference which met Monday has decided to be part of the All-Party meeting called by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 24 while the J&K Congress is still undecided.

Peoples Conference in a statement said, “The participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative of the Prime Minister and hoped that this engagement would evolve into something much bigger and facilitate return to democracy and empowerment of the people of J&K. The participants insisted that the chairman of the party should convey unequivocally the pain and suffering of the people of J&K. However, they also emphasized on the need for creative thinking to address the pain and suffering of the people of J&K and hoped that the engagement will be positive, decisive and result-oriented.”

The meeting was attended by senior PC leaders Basharat Bukhari, Mansoor Hussain Soharwardy, Adv Bashir Ahmad Dar, Abid Ansari, Mohammad Khurshid Alam, Raja Aijaz Ali, Mohammad Abbas Wani, Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Irfan Panditpori and Rashid Mehmood.

Meanwhile, the Congress party leaders who met the high command virtually shared their views and inputs about the issues and aspirations of the people of different shades and regions to be raised.

They will hold another round of high-level meeting tomorrow at 5 pm under the chairmanship of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

Those who participated today include  Tara Chand, Mula Ram, Taj Mohiuddin, Raman Bhalla, Ravinder Sharma, Balwan Singh, Jugal Kishore, Yogesh Sawhney, Abdul Majid Wani,  T S Bajwa, Ashok Sharma, Manmohan Singh.
