He observed that Lok Sabha elections would set the trend for change in the coming Assembly elections. “Peoples’ urge for change is gaining momentum with every passing.m

Joining of large number of people in PDP is indication that there is strong wave for change in the State”, Mufti said while addressing a function to welcome Sher Singh and Aijaz Khan, two prominent leaders of National Conference from Reasi who joined PDP along with their supporters. Exuding confidence that PDP would sweep the Lok Sabha elections, Mufti said that people were fed up with the mis-governance and rampant corruption in the state so they were waiting for an opportunity to give a befitting reply to this government.

“PDP is seeking mandate to change destiny of the people of Jammu and Kashmir”, he said and called upon the party workers to intensify the on-going campaign for change. “Coming Lok Sabha elections are an opportunity to channelize anger of the people against this government”, he said. Reiterating his resolve solve problems of all sections of the society Mufti said during its tenure the PDP led regime had proved its ability to change destiny of the common masses by treating all individual equally and by providing equal opportunities of development and growth to all sections of the society.

“Although we had just 16 members in the Assembly, we provided good governance to the people by streamlining functioning of all the wings of the government”, he said and added that it was only during the PDP led regime that governance consciousness was generated among the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the common masses had a taste of good governance.

“We are not praising ourselves but people are themselves now comparing performance of our government with the present dispensation”, he observed, adding, “the overwhelming response, the party has been receiving from common masses during the recent years, is appreciation well as acknowledgement of the good work done by the previous PDP led regime in the State”.

Mufti said there was a widespread public recognition of the fact that the credible  leadership and pro-people agenda of PDP had positively transformed the State’s political, economic and developmental landscape. “The process of the State’s political and economic transformation started by the PDP-led coalition government in the year 2002 has to be now taken to the logical conclusion because the present regime has miserably failed to carry forward this process”, he said and assured the gathering that PDP would, with fresh resolve, embark on the agenda of ensuring dignified peace and sustainable economic prosperity for the people in all the regions and sub-regions of the State.
