Pervez Ahmad Teli had gone to Mumbai on July 2. Since July 6, family lost touch with him. His brother went to Mumbai on July 8 to know his whereabouts and reported the case to police. When he showed the picture of Parvez to Mumbai police they took him to a hospital where he identified the body of his brother. Family alleged there were torture marks on his body. While mainstream condemned the killing, separatist demanded impartial probe. Whatever the case may be, the family has lost the son. Pall of gloom was all around as Pervez’s last journey was about to take place. Kashmir Life’s Photo Chief Bilal Bahadur captures the pain and agony:
Anger & Rage: Relatives of Pervez Ahmad Teli, a resident of Nawab Bazar Srinagar carrying his coffin amid sloganeering. Pervez died in Mumbai and was brought to Srinagar on Sunday.
Mayhem: As the news of Pervez’s death spread, people from various adjacent areas thronged Nawab Bazar. In picture body of Pervez in coffin being taken for the last rites.
Protest: As the banner read, stop killing Kashmiris, women and girls looking silently while the body is being taken. The youth engaged police and paramilitary personnel in stone pelting.
Tragedy: Close relatives of Pervez wailing to mourn the death of young man. They would have expected to have him back alive. His dead body shattered them for life.
Emotional Outburst: Women walking through the narrow lanes of old city to mourn the death of youth. The anger was brewing up.
Peace: May the soul rest in peace. Local Imam leading Nimaz Jinazah of the slain Pervez.
Bidding Adieu: Friends and relatives bidding adieu to slain Pervez Ahmad Teli. The pall of gloom was all around when the people had last glimpse of the deceased.
