Pesky power cuts and non-availability of electricity forced hundreds of people from scores of hamlets of South Kashmir’s Tral town to come on roads.

Agitated people staged a massive protest against Power Development Department (PDD) and take out a procession from Batagund to Hajinzoestan. Protestors were carrying placards and banners seeking an end to pesky power cuts.

The protestors also put effigies of Power Minister on fire and alleged that scores of hamlets of Tral town including Naristan, Satoora, Khangund, Lam, Ganaiegund, Aaribal, Dharamgund, Gadpora, Wagur, Astana, Laru Jagir, Batagund, and Seer are reeling under darkness from past several days.

The protestors blocked traffic for several hours after which Tehsildar Tral and Executive Engineer PDD visited on spot and assured people that their problem will be addressed with in a week’s time.

Tehsildar Tral and Executive Engineer PDD assured protestors that a heavy transformer would be installed at Lowergam which would help us to overcome the power crisis in these hamlets.

The protestors were led by AIP leader Advocate Abdul Rashid Dar.
