SRINAGAR: A daily wager of Public Health Engineering (Jal Shakti department) allegedly committed suicide in Poonch district of Jammu division on Monday while his family stated that he was distressed due to improper release of wages.
According to the news agency KNO, the deceased’s family members said that Reyaz Ahmed, a resident of Poonch, was working as a casual laborer in the department for the last twenty years but was under stress due to improper release of wages.
Nisar Ahmed, the victim’s brother said his brother was under stress and was working as a daily wager in the department from twenty years as he was getting a meagre amount of Rs sixty thousand, which was inadequate to meet the daily needs of the family.
“Our colleague is a fresh victim of this official apathy but no one is taking any concrete steps to rescue the daily wagers from the prevalent situation,” PHE daily wagers, who staged a protest in Jammu, said.
