PHE Land donors and employees of PHE department Kashmir on Saturday held a protest demonstration in press colony Srinagar.

Scores of the employees assembled in press colony shouting anti-governmental slogans against the government’s failure to provide them permanent jobs and release their pending wages.

The protesting employees said that they are the landlords who have given their land to PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control Department for pipeline purpose in the year of 2000. The landlords were later appointed as casual labours in the said department, adding that during the assembly session also government had announced permanent jobs to the land donors within a month but instead of providing permanent jobs the government stopped their salaries, they said.

“Despite performing our duties honestly since 2000, no initiative was taken by the government to address our grave concern,” Said a protestor.

”Our family future is in dark, we are dependent upon the said job but it’s so unfortunate that despite appealing time and again the government has never looked into our problems, he added.

The employees said that they even submitted many representations to the concerned office and Chief Minister but nothing has happened till now.

The protectors threatened that if the government did not look into their matter they will hit the streets again and all the water supply will be stopped by them.
