A group of daily Wagers and Casual labourers from Public Health Engineering (PHE) on Monday staged a protest demonstration in Srinagar demanding the release of pending wages and regularization of their services.

The protesting employees under the banner of Kashmir PHE Joint Employees Association, assembled at Srinagar’s Partap Park to press for their demands including the regularization of their services, and release of pending wages. The employees said that they are without wages from last many months and the government is turning a blind eye towards their plea.

Zahoor Ahmad Parray, who led the protest, told this reporter that it if the government fails to fulfil the demands of the said employees, they will hit the streets again and the government would be responsible for the consequences.

“As the government has withheld our salaries, we all are going through a tough phase,” said one of the protesting employees, adding that they are unable to meet the expresses of their families.

The protestors also appealed the Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik to look into the matter and end their sufferings.
