District administration Thursday seized two Photostat shops in apple town Sopore of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district for issuing fake election cards to people.

Reports said that after receiving complaints from the people, a team led by SDM Sopore Dr Nasir raided the two Photostat shops located opposite police station Sopore and after finding fake scanned documents.

Confirming the incident, the SDM Sopore informed that they seized ‘Qadri Photostat’ and ‘Unique Photostat’ shops and initiated action against their owners.

The locals said that it is irony that both the Photostat shops despite located opposite to police station managed to run the racket. They demanded stringent punishment against the owners of these shops.

Meanwhile, a scribe working for a news agency lodged a complaint in police station Sopore against the owner of ‘Qadri Photostat’ after he along with other shopkeepers allegedly manhandled him when he was trying to take pictures of the seized Photostat shops. “I was doing my professional duty when the owner of the Photostat shop and others snatched my camera and mobile phone and manhandled me,” the scribe Adnan Ahmed Dar said.
When contacted, SHO Sopore said that he is busy in a meeting. (CNS)
