SRINAGAR: Police have arrested a Physical Education Teacher (PET) in connection with an alleged sexual harassment case involving a 15-year-old girl in the Aripal area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
According to police, a written complaint was received at Police Post Aripal on September 24 alleging sexual harassment of the minor by Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Gh Nabi Lone, a resident of Darganigund. Lone is posted as a PET at Government High School, Lam, Aripal.
Following the complaint, police registered FIR No. 107/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at Police Station Tral.
Police said a team led by the Incharge Police Post Aripal initiated the investigation and, based on technical and human intelligence, established the alleged involvement of the accused.
The accused was subsequently apprehended and arrested, police said, adding that further investigation is underway.
Police said legal action would be taken in accordance with law and reiterated its commitment to protecting children from offences against minors.
