Nominating Bashir Ahmad Tota as the new chairman, of the party, Jammu Kashmir People’s League on Wednesday, alleged that some separatist leaders are trying to reach another accord like 1975 with New Delhi.

“A situation is being created to reach upon an agreement with New Delhi as was done between Sheikh Abdullah and Indira Gandhi in 1975,” League leaders along with the central council members of the party said in a press conference.

They added, “The same situation is being created so that the plebiscite struggle is buried so we need to be vigilant.” “But it will never be allowed.”

On asking about the leaders who were trying to create a 1975 situation, they said, “though we know the names but we will not disclose them at this point of time, instead we appeal them to return from the track they are following.”

Pertinently, Jammu Kashmir People’s League was among the frontline parties which came openly against the Indira-Abdullah accord in 1975 resulting in the long detentions of the then party leaders.

The PL leaders announced their new Chairman. They said, “From now on Bashir Ahmad Tota will be heading the party.”

Pertinently, PL is presently represented by Mukhtar Ahmad Waza in the Hurriyat Conference (M) against whom party leaders had leveled serious allegations some time back.

The party called back Waza from Hurriyat (M) but he did not respond to the party call instead he claimed to head the ‘real PL.’

Hurriyat (M) is going through very tough time as its three senior leaders, Shabir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan and Azam Inquilabi a couple of days claimed that they are representing the ‘real Hurriyat Conference.’

Shah and Khan started their career from PL but now they are heading their own political outfits like Inquilabi.
