SRINAGAR: Addressing a massive gathering at Srinagar’s Bakshi Stadium, LG Sinha welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that the people of the valley welcome him to the land of Sufi saint Sheikh ul Alam.

Acknowledging the transformative development initiatives undertaken by PM Modi, LG Sinha noted that Modi’s dedication to the welfare and peace of the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the last decade has led to significant progress in restoring peace to the region after decades of turmoil.

He highlighted the substantial transformation witnessed by JK in the past five years, emphasising that no innocent lives are lost on the streets, and nobody’s eyes are snatched by pellets.

Underscoring PM’s affinity for JK, LG Sinha mentioned Modi’s frequent references to Kashmir in his Mann ki Baat programme. He praised Modi’s promotion of Kashmiri products like Lotus Stem (Nadru), Pashmina, and Saffron on various platforms.

LG Sinha praised Modi’s leadership in spearheading various developmental projects, including infrastructure enhancements like tunnels, ring roads flyovers, roads, which have improved accessibility and connectivity across the region. He lauded the creation of pedestrian markets similar to those in Europe, revitalising business activities.

Emphasising the fulfillment of long-standing demands of Paharis and the untouched status of Gujjars and Bakerwals, Sinha highlighted the inclusion of OBCs in panchayats and urban local bodies. He noted the creation of thousands of government jobs and the emergence of over eight lakh entrepreneurs, including numerous successful women-led self-help groups.

Sinha recounted inspiring stories of local entrepreneurs like Zahida from Shopian, whose products have reached international markets. He highlighted the establishment of new startups, cold storage facilities, malls, and cinema chains, reflecting the burgeoning economic landscape in JK.

The LG highlighted the return to normalcy and the thriving tourism industry, contrasting the previous climate of fear with the present sense of security and opportunity. He commended the lack of violence and the transition from terrorism to tourism.”The presence of the high-flying Indian flag on Ganta Ghar in Lal Chowk symbolizes peace and signifies the shift away from terrorism.”

He said that till 2022, there was no concept of nightlife and multiplex cinemas. “Today, youth spent time on Jehlum front and tourists enjoyed cinemas and night life across Srinagar. This change wasn’t possible without your support.”

In conclusion, LG expressed confidence that Jammu and Kashmir would soon emerge as a significant contributor to India’s ongoing development journey under PM Modi’s visionary leadership.
